Diary On The Road
December 2000
Feast of the Lights

The New Millenium was a year of many blessings.

Touring with Cecil Taylor, in Canada, Europe, Florida was, of course, an adventure in outer space.

The completion of 15 CD´s by Temple Productions, of Sun Ra poetry performed by Trudy Morse, was an overwhelming achievement.

Trips to Palm Springs, Israel, Sedonia with Wendy, my niece, and her friends, were extraordinary adventures.

Survival of one Near Death Experience (Pulmonary Arrest) and a 5-hour surgery revealed the closeness of the six Morse siblings the 20 grandchildren who rallied at the hospital in incredible speed and devotion.

Feast of the Lights

This 53 year old family ritual brought the family together with candles all over the house lighting each corner. The grandchilden gave the same blessings as their parents, and since there were so many present, with the same few prayers, in a number of cases parent and
child gave the same blessing together, in unison.

Several comments:  ¨since our family has grown so much, we need new prayers.  And,
anyway, these cards now at least 30 years old are becoming somewhat ragged¨

Instead of the presents, Eric and Abby opened a holiday store, with two tables of gifts.  Everybody selected a gift, the girls gift wrapped.

And, surprise, there was a Jerry Garcia tie for the men, with the price tag of $38.00.
Compliments of Polly Fleming, whose friend had lived with Jerry for many years, and upon his death, was asked to leave by the wife.  She took the ties with her, but was not allowed to sell them!
