Diary On The Road
February 2002

INTERFAITH ACTIVITIES, PUPPETS, AND CECIL

February was full, with family activities, movies, and breakfast at Bagel City. Our inter-faith activities are growing, with more and more people interested, it seems to me. While in DC, I try to give all spare time to Diane Sherwood of Inter-Faith Conference,  who arranges many visits from foreign guests from Saudi Arabia, Central Asia, all wanting to bring about reconciliation of the Monotheistic Religions, Children of Abraham.

Although our President is sending bombs all over, looking for Terrorists, and evil forces, there seems to be another quiet stream of moderate people of all Faiths who want to know more about each other. I see in my own Am Kolel, with David now ordained as Rabbi, the inclusiveness of our group, and how fast we seem to be growing. We now have our first black family from Africa, a nursery group, intermarried couples, and seem to be expanding with our spiritual services held at the Unitarian Church

N.Y.C. - Puppets and Cecil

February closed with a delightful trip to New York City. Tully Hall in Lincoln Center for solo performance, Cecil Taylor, and later the trio, Dominic Duvall and Jackson Krall

Cecil is becoming more lyrical and like Debussy, I find myself thinking of gentle streams, clouds, and birds flying in beautiful patterns against the sky.

I stay with Cecil over night, with breakfast at Tillies, the local cafe which I love, and then on to see Bonnie's group in rehearsal. The evening is with Vit Vojhes, master of Czech Marionettes, with a reception following
the performance.

Through the kindess of Sharona of Turtle Bay Music School, I have a lovely home to stay overnight, and leave the next day for Paris, with Cecil.
