DIARY ON THE ROAD

August 15 - 24, 2005 - Dedicated to SC

Dedicated to SC

News Flash
Settlers in Palestine
Leaving their homes
in occupied Palestine
Homes to be demolished
Palestinians to return to their land
The newspaper headlines scream
Far away in the desert

Massive cement piles to be buried
All homes were demolished
Settlers life time of dreams
Demolished to start life again somewhere
Each given $400,000 but where is home?
All because General Bulldozer Sharon
Destroyed homes of Palestinians
And brought in settlers to occupy their land
What will they do with all the cement
And are the 30 synagogues also destroyed?

SC, thank you for them kind words
I cry for Palestinians
I cry for Israelis

I was raised and hung out
Small town in Long Branch, N.J.
By Atlantic Ocean and Asbury Park
Where Bruce Springstein started
It was the boogie-woogie in dives
In Asbury Park which later
Bruce made famous.
In the summer it was the marathon
Which Red Skelton later made famous

But me, I loved the hurricanes
And walked the boardwalk
With the wind ablowing and my cheeks aglowing
I was alive and digged the dives of Asbury Park
The marathons and hurricanes of Long Branch

Later Malcolm walked with me
I married that guy in five days
Who would ever take me
On the boardwalk during hurricanes?
Who would ever take me to N.Y.C.
With our car swimming through the floods?

I was young, foolish
and banged away
at an old upright piano
At the marathon where
Red Skelton was Grand Master
I don't why
There's no Sun in that Sky
Stormie Weather!
Cause that Man and I
Aint together
It keeps raining
All the time

Now at 86
Still watching that Man
Of mine
We aint together
It keeps raining
All the time

Me I study Bible
And pray all the time

Sir John Templeton
He starts Metanexus
Farzad Mahootian
Another guy of mine
Helps Sir John
Director of tiny group
Metanexus in Shepherstown
West Virginia

We all feel that Man and I
Aint together
It keeps raining
All the time

John Snyder, you must know him
Producer many JAZZ Grammy awards
Many Cecil Taylor and Sun Ra recordings
He now produces Templeton Audio Books
Imprint of Templeton Foundation Press
John, he now Professor at Loyola University
At New Orleans, LA
Chair, Music Business Department
Big grant from Jazz Educations Association

New Orleans, LA, did I hear you say?
And now New Orleans flooded
As never ever before
Homes, cars, and even life washed away
Whole city evacuated
As never ever before

Can't even hear from old friends
All living their lifetime in New Orleans
Where the Jazz Festival was supreme
And Mardi Gras, costumes, laughter
John Coltrane he call it Love Supreme
Love Supreme?
I wonder Love Supreme's
In my hometown New Orleans?

Self Organizing systems
Emerging out of CHAOS
String Theory, Super String Theory
Seedlings must be everywhere
Ready to burst out
I gotta believe it
Or what else?

I just don't know why
That Sun aint in the Sky
Cause my Man and I
Aint together
It keeps raining
All the time
Stormie Weather
