Myth and Magic

The Paradigm

Page 34 in Myth and Magic by Trudy Morse

I have created a figure as a paradigm of how we can live with the many opposites within Self and Others. I have used symbols because language seems to have its own rules and regulations, and I believe there have been millions of words already writtenon the subject.

In the figure, I am hoping to show a chain-like interactive circularity to the paradigm, thus indicating the complexity of the make-up of the individual identity.

Not alone are the emanations of Self controlled by myth and magic. Self is always complicated by its interactions with Others. In fact, I think that Self may be realized only through this kind of interaction.

It has been argued that man creates his own god, but I really don't care. More evident to me is the notion of mirroring and reflection of Self through Other.
