Recollections

Qawwali from Recollections by Trudy Morse

Lost in the forest
But reborn again
I give thanks to my creator
And praise to Qawwali
In awe and gratitude.

Of all the noices
In the universe
You are the most
Vibrant.

I hear your sound
In every bird
In every cricket
In every whisper
In every breeze.

You are my
Heart beat
You are my
Rhythm
I love Thee
There is none else.

I am like a tiny kitten
And you are a roaring lion
You respect and cherish me
And I obey Thy commandments
I have found the All
Come, dance and sing
With me
My Qawwali.

You say not a word to me
But I hear your sound
In every blade of grass
In every thistle by the roadside
My Qawwali
Thou art always with me
I am Thy SHE
And Thou, oh lion, art my mate.

'Tis hard to speak to you
I feel so awkward
I have no words
I stutter, I am in knots
I long to hold you
But I know not how.

You are like the wind
And I am an earthen stone
I swim in your waters
My soul is on fire.

Thou art my Qawwali
But I can't tell you
Can the kitten ever
Talk to the lion?

My Qawwali, where art Thou?
While I stutter and gasp
Do you take deep breaths
And think of me?
Does the lion ever
Penetrate the kitten?

You hold me in your embrace
But you speak not
I feel Thy presence
But know not where Thou art

I take a deep breath
I feel Thy emanations
I feel your vibrations
I dance and sing with Thee.

I feel you
I know you
You are my lion
And I am yours
Forever and whatever
In awe and gratitude.
There can be
No Qawwali
Without gratitude

Oh awesome lion
And gentle one
Transcend whatever
In awe and gratitude.

Hang in, with fear
Let go, transform
Hang out, it's fun
Do run about
Play, sing, and dance
In awe and gratitude.

Transcend whatever
Find time and space
To give each other.

Thou art One, and whole, but still alone
Oh gentle HE and awesome SHE
I create Thee, and Thou createst me
We are One. We are the Perfect One
We are whole, but still alone
In awe and gratitude.

With Thee I wander
In exaltation and bliss
With Thee I wander
In absurdity.
