| Shortly after Malcolm passed away in 1986, I became acquainted with Cecil Taylor and devoted much time on tours to Japan, Berlin, and other events. In 1990 I became acquainted with Sun Ra and appeared with the Sun Ra Arkestra performing Sun Ra poetry. In 1993, Sun Ra left the Planet, and I devoted some 7 years developing and performing poetry on Tributes to Sun Ra, all over the USA. |

1960 to 1997
This personal collection was produced by John Snyder, Grammy award winner for producing CD of Etta James These CD's are prepared from old tape recordings of events in our family from the 60's until 1987, when Malcolm died. The life of the family revolved around poetry. Malcolm read and memorized poetry all day. Starting in the morning while shaving, reciting aloud to whoever would listen, on vacations all day while driving. For various holidays, the children read poetry, with Melvin on the guitar, and Michael recording. Gale read Macolm´s favorite Book of Omar Kayham. And while burying the Egyptian clay jug with his ashes, all sang songs from the 60's. Poetry readings,Peace Marches, weddings, Bar & Bas Mitvahs, Folk Festivals, travel to the Soviet Union, are all included. Other programs: classical music, Burl Ives, Gale and Mel's poetry and peace songs on the guitar. Sabbath suppers, Thanksgiving Dinners; and Malcolm's Funeral ends the collection. It gives a moving insight into the home of a political activist married to a brilliant electronic engineer, designing and using the new electronics for the home. |
